Methods to Remove Perianal Hair

We can remove Perianal Hair by three methods

  1. Application of Hair Removal Cream (Recommended)
  2. Trimming with Electric Razor/Trimmer
  3. Shaving with a sharp razor (Not Recommended)

Perianal Hair Removal using Hair Removal Cream

Things you'll need

  1. Hair Removal Cream (Easily available in market, Choose a good brand)
  2. Lukewarm Water
  3. A Plastic Tub (In which you can comfortably fit to do a hip bath)
  4. Cream Remover
  5. Aloe Vera Gel
  6. Soft Towel

Preparation

  • It would be easier if you take assistance from your spouse or any other person you trust.
  • If you are doing it all alone keep everything handy in advance.
  • Keep sufficient amount of lukewarm water.
  • Allergy Test: Apply a test patch over your elbow or on your hand.
  • Before using the cream, please read the instructions on the label carefully.

Allergy Test

A few individuals may feel some kind of allergy or reaction to one or more ingredients of the cream, so it is always advisable to have an Allergy Test or TEST YOUR SKIN REACTION for the cream you are about to use.


Procedure for Allergy Test

  • Apply a small amount of cream to a small part of the area you wish to treat or you can apply it at the forearm, elbow or at the back of your hand also.
  • Remove it after 5 minute using the remover.
  • If after 24 hours there is no adverse reaction, you can use it safely.
  • If you start feeling any kind of severe itching, redness, inflammation, rash or pain DO NOT use this cream again. You can try changing the brand or should go for a cream meant for sensitive skins.

Procedure to Remove Hair

Step 1

  • Wash the area with lukewarm water.
  • If your skin is of dry nature you can simply have shower from normal water to avoid further drying of the skin.

Step 2

  • Dry the perianal region properly using a soft towel.
  • Let the area dry for 5 minutes

Step 3

  • Take suitable position and apply a thick and even layer of the cream using the applicator at the desired area.
  • DO NOT rub the cream, simply spread it over the skin.
  • Wash your hands immediately if you have used your fingers to apply the cream.

Step 4

  • Leave the cream for 5-10 minutes (read the label of cream to know the exact time needed).
  • DO NOT cross the time limit of application.
  • Gently remove the cream using the remover or a wet cotton cloth or tissue paper.
  • Wipe gently, do not rub the cream much.

Step 5

  • Do Sitz bath for about 10 minutes using lukewarm water.
  • Pat dry the skin using a soft towel (Do not rub the skin).
  • Let it dry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Apply Aloe Vera Gel (Alternatively you can use any herbal moisturiser).

Special Recommendations

  • Find the right cream for your skin. You may need a mild one if your skin is sensitive.
  • Always read the instructions on the label and follow them exactly.
  • Always do Allergy Test before each time you apply hair removal cream, even if you have safely used it before.
  • Do not exceed 10 minute total cream application time.
  • Don’t worry if the skin is a bit red after the procedure, it’s normal.
  • Cream may burn a little, but if you start getting too much burning sensation immediately rinse the cream with cold water and if the burning sensation persists, seek medical advice.
  • Avoid applying soap over the area for at least 24 hours because it may cause burning sensation or you can use baby soap (or any other mild soap).
  • Repeat the whole procedure after 72 hrs to get a perfectly clean area.

1. Trimming with Electrical Trimmer or Hair Clipper

Steps

  • Apply it on dry skin.
  • Set the trimer with appropriate adjustments.
  • Gently apply over the skin.
  • Wash the area properly with lukewarm water after trimming.
  • Clean all the creases of the body properly and do not let any hair to stay on the body.

2. Shaving with razor

Steps

  • Wash the area with lukewarm water.
  • Apply shaving cream or soap over the area.
  • Form froth over the region.
  • Gently apply razor in the opposite direction of hair growth.
  • Wash the area with lukewarm water.
  • Apply mustering lotion over the area after drying.
