Case History in brief

A young 24 yrs old male patient came with complaint of mild pain and some occasional pus discharge from lower back region. He had to undergo a surgery for pilonidal sinus approximately 2 years back. Unfortunately the problem came back soon.

 

Main complaints:

  • Mild pain
  • Occasional pus discharge

 

Clinical findings:

  • Hair were shaved at the time of first visit.
  • A long scar was clearly visible
  • Hair were coming out from one of the external opening. (Watch video)
  • 1-2 drops of pus was visible.

Addictions

  • Smoking: No
  • Alcohol: No
  • Tobacco chewing: No

 

History of previous surgery

  • Underwent general surgery about two years ago.
  • The problem came back after 4-5 months of surgery.

 

Medical History

No Significant medical illness.

 

General findings:

  • Too much hair around the affected region.
  • Patient was a brilliant student and had to sit a lot to study.
  • Family history was absent.

 

Blood Reports

  • All blood reports were normal

 

 

MRI Findings

  • 3.6 cm long track with 0.5 mm thickness

Therapy 

  • Track was cleaned with Trifla kwath.
  • Hair were removed
  • Kshar Sutra was put in the track

Follow up visits

  • Total 7 follow up visits for Kshar Sutra change.
  •  

Medicines

  • Complete ayurvedic treatment was given for better wound healing.

 

 

Treatment duration

  • 7 Sessions were given.
  • Took 40 days for wound healing.
